Practice Interviews
Interviewing is a skill that can be honed with practice. Whether you are seeking an internship and have never been on a formal interview or you are a mid-level professional with years of work and interviewing experience, CCE counselors are trained to provide you with clear and specific feedback to enhance your interviewing skills and help you feel more confident.
Practice interviews are hour long appointments where you will be asked a number of interview questions specific to an area of interest or job. During this time counselors will also give feedback on your answers, review your strengths, areas that need improvement, and address any questions you may have. If you would like the interview to be recorded, please specify this when scheduling your appointment. If your practice interview is recorded, you may take the copy of the disc with you for your own personal viewing. In order for your counselor to ask you industry specific questions, please send a resume, cover letter, and job description to your assigned career counselor at least two days in advance. You may give a brief description of your field of interest if you are not interviewing for a specific job. Also please look through the interview guide in advance so that you can make the most of your practice interview.
If you are unsure of how to dress the day of your actual interview, you are welcome to dress in interview attire for your practice interview, which many students find makes for a more realistic experience. Your counselor can give you feedback on your attire as well.
Employer Practice Interview Programs
In addition to individual practice interviews with a counselor, there
are also options to practice with an actual employer. CCE hosts "The Employer Connection: Mock Interview
and Resume Review" program featuring company representatives from a variety of industries including consulting, finance, engineering, (civil,
mechanical, electrical, computer science, chemical, biomedical, earth and
environmental) arts, and not-for-profit who conduct practice interviews and resume reviews for students. Sign up on LionSHARE!
Please Note: Demand for practice interviews and courtesy to fellow students and alumni requires that we impose the following cancellation policy: If for any reason you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please give us at least twenty-four (business) hours notice so that we can make that appointment time available to another student or alum. If - for any reason - you fail to advise us that you cannot make an appointment, your appointment will be recorded as a "No-show". If you accrue three "No Shows" during a semester, you will not be allowed to schedule further appointments at CCE during that semester.
