ELIGIBILITY

 

The Center for Career Education’s Columbia Student Enterprise (CSE) program is currently seeking Manager Directors for their three student-run businesses. The program is a unique opportunity to learn about and develop valuable entrepreneurship, leadership, and management skills. The participants of the program receive training and develop transferable business skills applicable to all industries.

Managing Directors are paid a yearly salary during their active management term and are eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of a performance bonus at the end of their term.

Elligibility requirements to apply for the Managing Director positions include:

  • Students must be part of the seven schools serviced by the Center for Career Education - Columbia College, The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of General Studies, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, School of Continuing Education, and School of the Arts.
  • Current students in good academic standing.
  • Applicants must be able to commit to the full program (January 2010 - May 2011).
  • Must have entrepreneurial drive, focus, and a desire to learn in a non-classroom environment.
  • Preference given to students who are already employed with the Enterprises.

Columbia University’s Center for Career Education provides oversight and advisement of the CSE program, as well as the individual student managers and agency employees. Management training, financial support, educational workshops, individualized consulting and advisement, and IT planning and support are a few of the services that the department offers students in the Columbia Student Enterprises program to facilitate professional and personal development and help students achieve financial success with their enterprises.
