The CSE Managing Director positions for each of the three businesses will be posted on LionSHARE during the Fall 2013 semester. You can search for the positions by typing in "CSE" in the keyword or employer name boxes in the Job Search section. Please do not hesitate to contact the Managing Directors directly for additional information:

There are four required components to the application. 

  1. Completed Three Essay Questions (see below).  Upload your responses to LionSHARE once they are completed.
  2. Resume
  3. Unofficial Transcript
  4. Recommendation letter – can be uploaded to LionSHARE or submitted directly to Jennie Creamer, (CBA), Jill Burya, (CUTTA) or Emily Rosenberg, (INY) by January 26, 2014
  5. Complete and submit the form below

Applicant Information
*Managing Director positions are open to the students that are enrolled in the schools served by CCE. In addition, all applicants must be considered full-time students throughout the duration of the management term. For any questions regarding eligibility or the application process, please feel free to contact the Program Managers listed on the CSE webpage.

Essay Questions: 

Please answer the following questions. Each answer should not exceed one typed page, double-spaced.

1) Why are you interested in managing a Student Enterprise?  Which of the businesses are you interested in managing and why?  How does this fit into your professional goals?  Please speak to both your interest in participating in the Columbia Student Enterprise program, generally, as well as your interest in managing the particular business you have chosen. In addition, please speak to which of your own skills and experiences would help you perform this role and indicate any ideas you have for growing and/or improving the enterprise you would like to manage.  (This response may be up to two pages in length)

2) What qualifications do you think are necessary to successfully manage this particular student enterprise? 

3) Describe the qualities that you would like to see in your key student personnel.  What do you feel are the challenges posed in managing your peers?  How would you actively address these challenges in your hiring process, management techniques, and business philosophy to achieve a high-level of professionalism within the enterprise organization?

Statement of Commitment: 

Being a Student Enterprise Managing Director is an intense and demanding commitment. You will be required to attend full-day training sessions on April 4th as well as other training sessions throughout your tenure including a monthly professional development workshop. You will be required to work on average, 20 hours per week (includes work time spent both at and outside the Agency’s office) as necessary for the Enterprise and as directed by the Center for Career Education throughout the management tenure.
