Congratulations, Class of 2017!

GSS LAUNCHES AS COMMENCEMENT APPROACHES

We are excited to kick-off Commencement season here on campus. It’s a time to celebrate all of your accomplishments and next steps. Here at CCE we love hearing about where you’ll head next in counseling appointments and at Quick Questions, but we also administer the annual Graduating Students Survey (GSS).

The GSS is not just any end-of-semester survey. The GSS is our focused effort on reporting the post-graduation plans of CU undergraduates (CC, SEAS, and GS). It also reports on the graduate schools we serve: Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, School of the Arts, and Columbia Engineering.

The survey will only take a few minutes. We ask questions targeting the details of what you’ll be doing after graduation, such as your career or continuing education plans. We also ask information about your job search process and what internships or research opportunities you’ve had while a student.  We understand that this is sensitive information and can assure you that individual results are confidential and are not published or shared in a personally identifiable way. Results are only reported in the aggregate.

Take the GSS

Can’t log in to take the survey yet? Don’t worry! You’ll be given access once our system processes your graduation record. Check back closer to Commencement to complete the survey.

WHY SHOULD I TAKE THE GSS?

There are several important uses for the information we gather.

  • We use the data to evaluate and improve programs and offerings to benefit current and future Columbians.
  • The data is used to inform and shape career expectations of current & prospective students and alumni. We share the data with various campus partners like Admissions, academic departments, Alumni Engagement, Family Engagement, and our affiliated schools’ leadership.
  • The University is required under the Higher Education Opportunities Act to report outcomes data to the federal government.
  • Employers, media outlets, and university ranking publications often request this data. Have you ever read  Wall Street Journal or US News and World Report rankings? They use our outcomes data!

We encourage you to be part of something bigger, and take the GSS so that campus partners have the data they need to decide on how to better the University.

ENTER To win prizes Worth up to $600

Additionally, taking the GSS before Commencement also enters you to win $600 worth of prizes! Prizes include $100 worth of Columbia gear, a $200 diploma frame, and Beats by Dre headphones.

Congratulations, Class of 2017! We look forward to hearing about your next steps beyond Columbia.
