The Center for Career Education (CCE) is seeking enthusiastic students to join our team as Peer Ambassadors for Spring 2025. This part-time, paid, on-campus opportunity allows you to play a pivotal role in supporting your fellow students while gaining valuable professional experience and skills.

CCE Peer Ambassador Position Details:
Term: January 2025 – May 2025
Location: In-person at CCE (Uris Hall) and across campus
Hours: 8–10 hours per week (with shifts scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, plus flexibility for evening and weekend hours)
Eligibility: Full-time students at Columbia College, Columbia Engineering, and the School of General Studies in good standing
Responsibilities:
Serve as a peer resource to fellow students, assisting them with activities such as LionSHARE Profile completion, learning about and accessing CCE services, using the self-service photo booth, etc.
Participate in CCE workshops, panels, career fairs and tabling events to help share information and resources about CCE.
Provide general outreach and event promotion at student clubs, events, and within the residence halls and lounge spaces.
Manage communication channels with specific cohorts of students and provide support with planning and facilitating events and workshops.
Develop presentations for workshops on a variety of career topics to be presented at student clubs or other opportunities.
Collaborate with the CCE Communications team to provide a student presence/voice on social media and blog posts; including assisting with the creation of marketing materials
Assist with Employer Information Sessions as required.
Perform other tasks as assigned
All peer ambassadors at CCE will undergo a comprehensive orientation and professional development training throughout the semester. Peer Ambassadors are expected to meet as a cohort on a weekly or biweekly basis.
As mentioned above, peer ambassadors at CCE are expected to work 8–10 hours per week. Shifts are scheduled with some time allocated between 9 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday, along with some evening and weekend hours. Please apply only if you can commit to working during these times.
Qualifications:
Full-time student enrolled in an undergraduate program in Columbia College, Columbia Engineering or the School of General Studies through May 2025 and in good academic and disciplinary standing.
Familiarity with the Columbia community and the Center for Career Education.
Demonstrated evidence of leadership and/or mentorship skills.
Comfort with public speaking and strong communication skills.
Ability to multitask and take initiative.
Reliability and punctuality.
Comfortable learning and using computer technology and online resources.
Familiarity with social media platforms.
Strong organizational skills, efficiency and a willingness to pitch-in wherever needed.
Some experience in providing customer service is a plus.
The hiring pay rate is $16 per hour.
