BD’s Technology Leadership Development Program (TLDP) consists of three progressively more challenging assignments (18 months each) which span multiple businesses and geographic locations within the company, strengthening the technical depth and skills of these high-potential associates while developing their leadership skills and stretching them across multiple disciplines.

A personalized and dynamic career path is sculpted for each individual TLDP, based on personal skills and interests, with the influence of senior R&D leaders. Assignments will focus on developing each participant’s domain expertise, leadership abilities, and cross-functional skills, and business acumen. Examples of first assignments include design and development of product components in drug delivery systems or high tech diagnostics devices, contributing to the development of a novel materials technology that enables invention of new medical devices and therapies, participating in the development of new technologies that enable better and faster disease diagnostics, or leading a novel concept. Second assignments are more complex technically and typically include providing supervision and work direction for a small team. In the third assignment leadership is further developed by increased team sizes while the technical complexity and impact of the roles are also increased.
