CCE Internships+

The Center for Career Education’s Internships+ program allows employers to work with innovative, creative Columbia interns and help students hone their professional skills in a virtual workplace. Employers from a wide variety of industries can participate in the program. Students have worked across industries, contributing to project-based work in roles featured below.

Program Features

  • Employers will provide project-based, high quality internships across the United States, either virtually or in-person. 
  • As internships will occur during the academic semester, most students will work on a part-time basis. 
  • Please keep the academic calendar in mind when developing an intern’s schedule.  
  • CCE provides Internships+ students the opportunity for pre-internship skills training, professional workshops and career counseling advisement to help prepare interns for success throughout their internship experience

  • Columbia College: Liberal arts college grounded in the Core Curriculum

  • School of General Studies: Liberal arts college empowering students of non-traditional backgrounds including veterans and career changers

Columbia College Navab Fellowship Program

The Navab Fellowship Program is designed to open new doors for Columbia College students into the world of work and is made possible by a generous gift from the Navab Family. Through the gracious commitment of Columbia College alumni, undergraduate students will have the opportunity to apply to and secure exciting summer internships in a variety of industries. The program enables Columbia College students to explore potential career paths, gain essential professional skills, and expand personal networks in preparation for life after graduation.

The Center for Career Education (CCE) partners with Columbia College alumni interested in hiring a summer intern.  CCE will work with alumni employers to make the opportunity more visible to students through marketing and will support the hiring process to relieve the administrative burden of hiring.  

Student Population

The program is open to eligible, full-time Columbia College undergraduate students across all majors and disciplines. 

Program Features

  • Columbia College Alumni Sponsor connects CCE to their organization or an affiliated organization to post a summer internship opportunity with the goal of hiring a Navab Fellow
  • Connect intern to Columbia College Alumni mentor(s) through the Odyssey Mentoring Platform
  • CCE provides Navab Fellows the opportunity for pre-internship skills training using the My Columbia College Journey framework, professional workshops and career counseling advisement to help prepare interns for success throughout their experience
  • Provide Fellowship awards to students in lawfully unpaid and low-paid opportunities for expenses to support the opportunity and for all participants on financial aid to cover the cost of their student contribution financial obligation

Program Timeline

  • Internship job description is provided to CCE for posting onto LionSHARE platform
  • CCE markets internship opportunity to students through application deadline
  • Employer reviews applications; selects, schedules and conducts student candidate interviews; keeping Navab Fellowship contact at CCE updated on candidate interviewing status 
  • Employer notifies CCE of top choice student and an alternate candidate(s) and CCE extends the program offer to the student
  • CCE communicates student candidate decision to Employer, and the intern is enrolled into the Navab Fellowship Program and CCE professional development training 
  • Employer communicates on-boarding details to their Navab Fellowship Program student intern
