Welcome to Quick Questions, the Center for Career Education’s drop-in hours. Do you have a specific career-related question or want a quick check of your application materials? Stop by Quick Questions to meet with a CCE staff member.
Quick Questions are offered during the academic year Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Eastern time, in person and virtually.
Last year, over 95% of surveyed students said they would recommend Quick Questions to a friend.
About Quick Questions
Quick Questions are offered Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Eastern time.
- Quick Questions are available:
- In-person: Visit Uris Hall (2nd Floor) and check in at the front desk.
- Virtually: Log in to meet via Zoom (see below).
- These sessions are fifteen minutes in length.
- Drop-in sessions are a great way to:
- Learn how get started on a job or internship search.
- Get familiar with LionSHARE, powered by Handshake.
- Review your resume, cover letter, or other application materials with a counselor.
- Find out about CCE programs, resources, online tools, events, and more that will best support you.

Eligibility
- This service is only available to currently enrolled students in the following schools:
- Columbia College
- Columbia Engineering – undergraduates only
- School of General Studies
- Drop-in hours for Quick Questions are not available to alumni. Alumni who need to meet with a career counselor should click here to sign in and schedule a 30-minute career counseling session.

Participate in Virtual Quick Questions
Quick Questions are offered Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Eastern time. You can stop by in person at Uris Hall or meet with a career counselor via Zoom.
Joining Virtual Quick Questions
Here’s how to join Quick Questions virtually:
- Click the blue button above to join virtual Quick Questions.
- After signing in, you will enter a waiting room (see image below). Please expect to wait for five to ten minutes to see a counselor. During peak times, your wait may be longer.
- You will be let in by the Host when a career counselor is available to meet with you. The Host will ask for your UNI and school to check your eligibility before you enter a breakout room with a career counselor. Please have this information ready to share.
- Once your eligibility is confirmed by the Host, you will enter a breakout room with a career counselor. Quick Question sessions last for fifteen minutes.
- Please remember to click “leave meeting” on the bottom right of your screen when you conclude your session (see image below).
- PLEASE NOTE: The Quick Questions Zoom link will only be active during the Quick Questions window. If you click on the link outside of these times, you will see the message below. This message indicates that you are accessing the meeting outside of Quick Questions hours and staff will not be available to meet with you. Please return to the meeting during drop-in hours.
Document Sharing in Virtual Quick Questions
There are three ways to share your documents during virtual Quick Questions:
Use the chat function to post a link to a Google doc. Your counselor can either review it verbally with you or make suggestions directly on your document if you share the file with commenting or editing privileges.
Use the share screen option to share a document and review it verbally with your counselor.
Upload a PDF or Word document via the Zoom chat to be reviewed verbally.
