Speed Networking: Make Connections in a NY Minute

The Columbia Club (15 West 43rd Street, NYC)

Join us for an evening of connecting with fellow alumni and learning how to turn contacts you meet at networking events, at other gatherings, and in random circumstances into career success. The first part of the event includes a presentation on how to incorporate brief encounters into your professional network. The second part of the evening allows alumni to put these principles into action via Speed Networking, giving you the opportunity to meet other alumni face-to-face in a fun and fast-paced environment while making more business contacts in one night than most make in one month. All Columbia University welcome!

What is Your Next Journey? Career Change Webinar Workshop for Alumni

Wednesdays, September 23 - November 4, 12:00 - 1:00 PM (ET)

Do you feel it may be time for a career change but are not sure what you would do? In this workshop, participants assess their values, skills, interests, talents, and personality traits through helpful discussions, exercises, and career tools, including the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and consider how results apply to the working world. Alumni will leave with a clearer sense of their career options and an action plan with next steps to take.

Additional Information:
This workshop meets for six one-hour sessions via a webinar platform (there will not be a meeting on Wednesday, October 21). Participants will need to have access to a computer, the Internet, and a telelphone (or microphone and speakers hooked up to a computer) and will receive detailed instructions on how to join. Participants will be encouraged to complete homework assignments between sessions, which may include career exercises as well as online discussions.  The workshop is open to alumni of all ages from all schools at Columbia University. 

Registration:
Teh fee for this workshop is $50 for four career assessment tools and reports.  Cancellations must be made by 6pm on Monday, September 21 in order to receive a refund. Click here to register.

Stand Out in the Crowd: Job Search Techniques for Alumni

Have you just launched a job search or have you been searching for a new opportunity for some time? In this workshop, participants will learn how to fine tune their job searching techniques in this economy.  Discussions will include resume and cover letter basics, effective networking including the use of social media, and the Columbia University resources available to alumni
