Work Life Balance

Work/life balance is often mentioned as one of the top values/priorities by alumni. At this point, your life has changed significantly and priorities now often include family, community service and balance. It is important to take some time and define for yourself what your priorities, values and needs are in your life at this point.

It is important to maintain a balance between your work commitments and your personal life. Employees who make time for outside interests tend to be more productive and happier in the work place. Whether it is your family, a hobby, the gym or friends, negotiating that balance can be tricky. Recognize that at times, work cycles will demand that extra time and attention be spent at work. Be careful about letting that go on for too long without scheduling time for yourself. For many, if an appointment is not on the calendar, we do not find the time for it.
