Summer Interns Living & Learning Program

DEADLINE EXTENDED: APPLY BY THURSDAY, APRIL 30th.

The Summer Interns Living and Learning Program is a unique opportunity for students in Columbia College and the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science who will be working in a summer internship to further their academic and career development. The goal of the program is to create a living and learning community for selected students who will be interning in New York City this summer and desire to discuss and share their experiences with other students. Members of this community will also participate in programs organized by the Center for Career Education to help them become more effective in their internships and prepare for future career decisions.

This program has been a joint effort, initiated by a proposal presented to Columbia College's administration by the Columbia College Student Council. The University's Department of Housing and Dining has made a significant investment in order to offer discounted housing for students in this program. CCE leads program development and oversee the application and selection process.

All students accepted into the Summer Interns Living and Learning Program will live together in one location for the summer of 2009. Thanks to the generosity and support of the Department of Housing and Dining summer housing will be discounted from the regular rate for students selected for the Summer Interns Living and Learning Program. The housing cost for the period (May 25, 2009-August 8, 2009) is $2,400 for single rooms (a savings of $300). There are two available double rooms for $1,800 (also a savings of $300) the roommates are paired together by CCE staff. All housing policies that the Department of Housing and Dining normally have in place will remain in effect for this program.

If you have already applied for Summer Housing through University Housing and Dining, you are still eligible to apply for the Summer Interns Living and Learning Program. Also, if you were in the Summer Interns Living and Learning Program last year and are eligible to participate again this year, you are welcome to apply. Please note that once you are accepted into the program, you will no longer be part of the Summer Housing lottery. In addition, if you choose to leave the Summer Interns Living and Learning Program at any point during the program, you will be charged a prorated fee for your room.
