Virtual Career Fair

October 14, 2009

From October 2009 through December 2009, students and alumni seeking career opportunities will be able to participate in online virtual career fairs designed to connect them with employers interested in recruiting from Columbia University. The fairs will feature companies such as the Sirius XM Radio, the U.S. Department of State, Coleman Research Group and many others.

These virtual career fairs will be hosted on the Alumwire Professional Network, an online community in which students, alumni and employers can interact with each other in an environment that combines aspects of traditional job search sites with familiar social networking sites like LinkedIn and Facebook. Job seekers can register for the fair by selecting the "Columbia University Network" and using their Columbia University affiliated email address. After registering, they will be able to research organizations, post resumes, apply to positions, connect with employers and much more.

Job seekers who have previously registered with Alumwire can login immediately.  In addition to applying to positions, job seekers can connect with employers through real-time virtual chat-booths and communicate with other participants. The days and times that these companies plan on using the chat functionality for are announced on a rolling basis in the Alumwire newsletter.  You can also view the chat schedule.
