Eligibility

To be eligible to be considered for the STEP Program students must meet the following criteria and must be available to fulfill the additional program requirements listed below.

• Students must be currently attending Columbia College, The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science or the School of General Studies.
• All current students (undergraduate and graduate) are eligible to apply.  Students that are graduating directly before the summer term are not eligible to apply to STEP positions.
• Applicants must be able to commit to the full program.

How to Apply

1. Apply and accept a "CCESTEP" position on LionSHARE.  All students who receive a "CCESTEP" position are automatically enrolled in STEP and do not need to complete any additional application documents.

Please note that STEP 2012 is officially open and accepting applications!  All STEP 2012 internships will be posted on a rolling basis in LionSHARE in the Job Search section throughout the Fall of 2011.  To search for the following internships in LionSHARE, keyword search “CCESTEP."

2.  *NEW* Apply to be a STEP student once you have found your own internship.

If you have received  an offer with a position that is not labeled as “CCESTEP” on LionShare or was not posted on Lionshare for the summer of 2012, you are still eligible to apply for STEP.  Please complete the following application requirements.

1.  Complete Non-CCESTEP Application Form
2. Submit five (5) supporting documents through LionSHARE 

• Resume
• Unofficial Transcript - Please note, if you are applying during your first semester as a student at Columbia University you should still provide a copy of your transcript showing the classes in which you are enrolled
• Copy of the Job Description
• Offer Letter (You must have already secured your job offer and accepted the position to apply to STEP)
• Personal Statement - details on what to include in your statement are below

 To submit the five (5) supporting documents listed above via Lionshare, please do the following:

• upload all five (5) required supporting documents in the "My Documents" section of Lionshare.
• Locate the current semester Non-CCESTEP job posting by searching by employer name "Non-CCESTEP" or by job ID #: 65782
• Once you have located the current Non-CCESTEP job posting apply for the job by using the "Apply Now" button within the posting and following the document upload instructions.  Please note, the "Apply Now" button will only appear in the job posting if all of the required supporting documents have been uploaded to your "My Documents" section.

Please apply early, as space is limited.  Deadline to submit all Non-CCESTEP applications on LionSHARE is April 8, 2012.

 Personal Statement Instructions

As part of the Non-CCESTEP Application Form, you will need to complete a personal statement.  Your personal statement to be considered for STEP should be limited to 1/2 to 1 pages double-spaced pages in total. 

Personal Statement Question:

Explain your interests in joining STEP for your summer 2012 internship experience.  Please make sure to include why you feel you should be considered for this program.
